Artista Gourmet Flavored Syrups & Sauces – Truly better than those other brands!

artista-color-painting.jpg

Artista Gourmet Flavored Syrups and Sauces are authentic flavors that are as good on the first sip as the last. Artista flavors are perfectly balanced to perform well in anything you’re making with them…hot, cold, you name it.

UMG has conducted countless blind taste-tests comparing Artista’s flavoring syrups with some of the competing brands like Torani, Monin, Routin 1883, DaVinci, and more. Artista continues to make us proud as the hands-down winner! Not only is Artista a better overall syrup than the competition, but it has a price point that will end up making your cafe more money than your current syrup line!

If that wasn’t enough, Artista offers a bottle-swap program! That means that if you are waiting to make the switch to Artista because you have a large stock of the other brands syrups in stock, you can wait no longer. Just agree to buy Artista in the future and we will swap out up to 24 bottles of any competing brand for 24 full bottles of any flavor Artista syrups you would like!

Feel free to Contact Us for more information or Order Yours and make the switch to a higher quality syrup for less cost per serving today.

Interesting Article on the Economy

I came across this article in one of my favorite magazines: ODE.  The article: ‘Death of a Paradigm’ sheds an interesting view on the current state of our economy.  If you’re one of our Fair Trade Organic Eco Conscious regulars or just someone who works hard for a living, than I’m sure you’ll find the article interesting.

Here’s the link:

Colleges/Universities making a difference!

image_swap_box.gif umg-label.giflogo-concordiabw.gif

Upper Midwest Gourmet & Flamenco Organic Coffee Company are extremely proud to be involved with the ECO and SOCIAL actions being taken by the University of Saint Thomas and Concordia College of Moorhead, MN.

Both schools are strong supporters of Flamenco Organic’s mission of only serving Fair Trade and Organic coffee. Coffee has historically been one of the world’s most exploitative industries. Fair Trade helps to insure the quality of life for workers and helps to prevent cost-cutting practices that hurt the quality of coffee. Coffee, which is the world’s second largest traded food commodity, is also one of the most unregulated and chemically treated. That is why Organic and Fair Trade coffee is SO important to all of us.

UMG, Flamenco, UST, and Concordia also strive for sustainability. That means that we are all working to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We do this by only selling and using Eco-conscious supplies, like cups, napkins, etc.

Some examples of our sustainability are:

UMG has solar panels on our facility which help to power the roasting equipment of the Flamenco Organic Coffee Co. UST has switched to corn-oil based cold cups and 100% recyclable napkins on campus. Concordia, Moorhead has focused on five themes: food, water, waste, energy, and transportation and are working as a WHOLE campus to make serious “green” change.

Please check out this great article below about Concordia’s sustainability

Dealing with WI-FI Moochers

This can be a tuff subject to deal with for most cafes.

I ran accross this aritcle today with what I think is an excellent idea. However, as I was taught to say during my military stint; “I can neither deny nor confirm my endorsement of this idea.”

I do think this topic should be addressed as you all know too well, so think deep and hard about addressing the issue and hopefully this article will inspire some ideas.

Tim Eddy Joins UMG Sales Team!

Alternative titles for this entry could be Coffee fan realizes dream! or Sales rep now selling something he loves! For the past 9 years I have been a part of growing a small frozen pizza company from a small local player (Appleton, WI) to a strong regional player (WI, IL the UP). This was challenging and satisfying work but I was ready for a change.

I have for a longtime been a fan of the espresso/coffee house industry. My first Cappuccino experience was at the Ovens of Brittany restaurants in Madison, WI. in the early 80s. The people in my life know of my love of coffee and many have told me that I should be working in the industry, and now happily I am. This came about because I learned of UMG at Backroads Coffee in Hayward, WI. (By the way, very nice people, who took time when busy, to answer this customers coffee questions). I am so pleased to be a part of the team at UMG where my responsibilities will be to grow our business in IL and eastern IA. The blend of products, expertise and committed people at this company will be a joy to share with new customers.

If you would like to contact me my cell # is 612-432-8119 , email tim@uppermidwestgoumet.net.

Visit Bella Caffe in Park Rapids, MN for a wonderful cafe experience!

Next time you are in Northern Minnesota take some time to enjoy a beautiful cafe in Park Rapids called “Bella Caffe.”

Thom and Cathy Peterson are the owners and they did a great job of creating the perfectly authentic Italian motif for their cafe. They serve espresso and coffee, fruit smoothies, wine, beer, cheeses, antipasto, paninis, treats, and much more.

I truly enjoyed my experience at their cafe and am positive you will as well.

Consumers are still buying coffee!

Hello all,

In my daily readings I ran across this set of inspirational articles indicating that consumers are still willing to treat (or indulge) themselves in their daily fix of black gold. As the economy gets tighter and our pay checks seem smaller, most consumers are making cuts elsewhere to ensure that they don’t miss out on their daily brew. This is good news for the coffee industry and just goes to show us how important our coffee is to the consumer even in tough times.

The Chronicles of Kelsey June 19 2008

dscf0069.JPG

I made my first gelato this week. It was actually a pineapple sorbetto (made with pineapple iperfrutta) and a panna cotta gelato (made with panna cotta delipaste and the nevepann bavierra base). It was a very interesting experience. First I would like to note that making gelato and sorbetto is very hot work. We were using a hot process and, as it was a hot day outside, it got rather warm here in our showroom. I had no idea that things could get so warm just by making gelato. Other than things being a bit steamy, it was actually a pretty interesting process.
