Golden Cup Award
The Golden Cup Award is a certification program presented by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA).
It recognizes food service operators who meet strict brewing standards, attesting to the excellence of their brewed coffee.
The standards set by the SCAA involve the following:
- Correct Coffee to Water Ratio
- Proper Grind
- Proper Operation of Brewing Equipment
- Time
- Temperature
- Turbulence
- Good Water
- Clean Equipment
A certified SCAA Brewing Technician must complete an on-site evaluation of the applicant’s brewing operation and then submit the findings to the SCAA for a review. They then can choose to either issue the Golden Cup Award or deny the application based on missing criteria.
This award provides consumer recognition of excellence. You will receive a certificate with the name of the establishment and the name of the Brewmaster. You will also have the option to purchase a handsome, three- dimensional wall plaque with your business name engraved below the SCAA insignia. You will also have your name listed on the SCAA website as being a Golden Cup Certified Coffeehouse. You’ll leave an impression of excellence on your customers, the quality of your brewed beverages will improve, and you’ll be honored by the only real coffee authority in this country.
